Saundersfoot was a small village. It was transformed in the
19th Century into an industrial port exporting coal and iron
from local collieries. To day, there are no more coal-laden
coasters, but a delightful seaside resort with its flotilla
of fishing and pleasure boats. Saundersfoot offers a vast range
of activities from Bowling Green to fishing trips, from tennis
courts to night clubbing in the evening. There are many pubs
and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Saundersfoot
is situated within the Pembrokeshire National Park. Leisurely
strolls along sandy beaches, walk across rugged cliff tops,
woodlands or winding footpaths, there is something here, for
everyone. If nothing else, come and marvel at our astonishingly
spectacular scenery.
Do not miss Tenby, an historic walled town, Bosherston village,
famous for its Lilly ponds, St. David, the smallest city in
the UK, Pembroke Castle or quaint little villages such as Solva,
Dale or Little Haven. Take a boat to Caldey Island, an island
inhabited by monks, Skomer Island to watch seals, puffins,
cormorants and numerous species of sea birds. Visit a tranquil
spot like Colby woodlands or Begelly water gardens.
Activities:
Saundersfoot, a golden soft sandy beach, together with Aberystwyth,
has been voted best beach in Wales for 2004. There are in fact
50 beaches around us from sheltered coves to surfing beaches
like Newgale, Freshwater West and Whitesands, to name just
a few. From the harbour, from Glen beach (to the right of the
harbour, or Coppet Hall beach, to the left) there is an abundant
variety of species such as: Bass, Mackerel, Pollock, Flounder,
Dogfish, Gurnard and Whiting. With a rod, or on one of the
many mackerel fishing boats, which operate from the harbour
during the summer, there is sport for the more serious angler
as well as fun days for the family.

Sailing, with many national competitions, skiing, surfing,
scuba diving and dinghy racing every Sunday or simply enjoy
a swim in the warm waters of Saundersfoot's safe beach
